Directions

Add ground beef to a bowl. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix everything together until well combined.

Shape the seasoned ground beef into 4x4 inch balls. You should get about 4 balls, depending on the size of the patties you want.

Place a layer of parchment paper on a plate. Put one of the ground beef balls on the parchment paper, then place another layer of parchment paper on top. Use a second plate to press down firmly, flattening the beef ball into a patty. This technique creates a "smash" burger patty with crispy edges.
